Cheshire West and Chester Health and Wellbeing Strategy - Our Place Plan for the Borough 2026 - 2031
Tell us your views on improving health and wellbeing across the borough
Approximately 27,000 people in Cheshire West and Chester live in the 10% most deprived neighbourhoods in the country.
One in six local children grow up in a low-income family, and the impact of this inequality is stark. Men living in the most disadvantaged areas of our borough live nearly 10 years less than those in the most affluent areas. For women, the gap is nearly 8 years.
These differences reflect real, unjust disparities in health, opportunity, and quality of life. The Council, along with its partners and residents are developing a new five-year plan to help change this, called the Cheshire West and Chester Health and Wellbeing Strategy.
This revised strategy will provide the vision and priorities for health services, the Council, blue light emergency services and the voluntary and community sector in the borough, to help them work together and improve health and wellbeing for residents.
The current Health and Wellbeing Strategy is known as the ‘Place Plan’. The new strategy will be shorter than previous versions and will focus on priorities that will be jointly delivered by all partners, with progress monitored each year. This new strategy will cover the next five years, from April 2026 until March 2031.
We would like to hear your views on our priorities for improving health and wellbeing across the borough. What you tell us will be used to help shape the new draft Cheshire West and Chester Health and Wellbeing Strategy, which will be consulted on in Autumn 2025.
