Kindness is Contagious

We are Pamela and Joanne and we launched our new business, Apollo Care Chester home care services, a few weeks before the Covid-19 outbreak, little did we know that what was waiting around the corner for us!

So whilst waiting for our CQC Registration to enable us to provide care we looked at how we could help the local community in a time of crisis.

We looked at the support available to the local residents surrounding our office in Mollington and discovered that they had nothing in place at this time, so we initiated our own voluntary service by posting 250 flyers offering to provide a shopping, medication collections and a companionship telephone call service, to anyone that may be at risk and vulnerable.

We also created a community link by putting a post box in the local ‘Book Stop’ (a delightfully converted bus stop that residents use as a library) along with some of our postcards, also a lovely local lady made some beautiful hand-made cards, which were left for residents to write messages to their friends and neighbours in the villages and we delivered them on our rounds.

We also contacted St Oswald’s Primary School who were only too happy to get involved with the children posting their beautiful pictures and heart-warming messages to those that may be lonely, we then passed these on to brighten the day of those that were battling with isolation and loneliness in these difficult times.

We went on to work to partnership with a local Parish Councillor to gain support for residents from a Mutual Aid Group and enable them to form their own volunteer group.

It has been overwhelming to see the community come together and to witness the wonderful acts of kindness that have transpired and how kindness is contagious.

We have now received our registration and are providing care to the community to enable them to live safer, happier, healthier lives.
