The Great Gruffalo Bug Hunt!

My name is Marie, I live in Malpas with my 7 children. In normal times I lead Cheeky Monkeys Playgroup and Rainbow Rhymes - a toddler song group in Malpas.

During the Covid 19 outbreak I have been running family trails/hunts in Malpas.

For our latest trail, launched at the end of May, we went Gruffalo themed and made a Giant Gruffalo - knowing how much the children at Cheeky Monkeys love the story of The Gruffalo.

The children have a Bug Hunt to complete either around the village, or a family walk following the map to Malpas’ ‘Deep Dark Woods.’

Once the hunt is complete, the children can claim their ‘’treasure’ of Homemade Gruffalo Crumble playdough or moon sand.

All that is needed to take part, is a pencil (for completing the Bug Hunt) and to bring your own hand sanitiser too.

I look forward to seeing more Malpas families complete The Great Gruffalo Bug Hunt.

A shining example of positive community spirt

Jeannie and Mary , two residents of Malpas who had both had enough of the mounting litter during lockdown on old hall street , decided they wanted to do something about it.Taking the litter picker by the handle, they set to the task in hand and six bags of rubbish later the area was left looking much more presentable . Jeannie and Mary have both set a shining example of positive community spirit and I would like to say thank you to them both .

Occupational Therapy Team deliver specialist equipment to help local family

The Council’s Occupational Therapy Team work with residents of all ages in the borough when physical and mental illness, disability, a long-term condition, or the effects of ageing prevent them from doing the activities they need or want to do.Grace, who is 18 months old, lives with her family in Chester and is one of the team’s youngest clients. She was born very prematurely and requires 20 hours of nursing care a day due to a number of medical issues.
