Cheshire West and Chester Council Consultation Standards Summary
We want to listen and learn from our residents, businesses and local community groups before we make decisions. This will sometimes mean we undertake time-bound consultation exercises.
Our consultations will…
be honest and transparent
We will make it clear what level of influence participants can have and explain any constraints, such as resources or legal requirements.
be clearly communicated
We will use plain English and explain the issues and options as clearly as possible. Information will be available in a range of alternative formats on request.
be visible and accessible
We will provide a range of opportunities to get involved and make it as easy as possible for our communities to have their say. We will promote consultations using a range of channels.
involve local councillors
We will ensure local councillors are involved and are aware of consultation activities.
be coordinated and organised
We will join-up consultation activities where it makes sense to do so and ensure we have clear plans to undertake consultation effectively.
allow appropriate timescales
We will allow sufficient time for people to respond and ensure we have enough time to digest and properly consider responses when making decisions.
be flexible
We will respond to any changing needs of consultees and the organisation during a consultation.
be subject to continuous improvement
We will take steps to quality control consultation and evaluate success
make a difference, and results will be shared with the public
We will analyse and consider all feedback received. We will share summary results and explain how findings have been taken into account.
