To achieve our vision and ensure value for money, the Council wants to move to a model for day services that gives people more choice and flexibility about the support they receive. The ideas for future day services are outlined below, including the potential impacts. The findings and recommendations from the day services coproduction group have helped to shape these ideas.
Our ambition for day services is that we increase choice and control, while ensuring value for money. Our ideas for the future will see the majority ofpeople with low or moderate needshaving their needs met by a choice of different providers and services in the community. This will allow people to attend and take part in activities that they have an interest in.
For those with more complex needs, a building-based service will be available with the option of still meeting their needs out in the community.
This means more people will have greater choice of how their needs are met during the day and fewer people will have their needs met in a traditional building-based day service.
