The Council wants to give people the option to book activities and arrange transport themselves.

To access a service currently, the majority of people who use the service have this arranged for them on their behalf by the Council, based on need, availability and location. This normally results in choosing one provider only and information of what is available is provided through a website called Live Well Cheshire West, which details what service providers work within the area, or from a social worker following an assessment.

To increase the range and flexibility of activities, we are proposing that people would have access to a dedicated website or call a dedicated telephone number to book a range of activities delivered by the providers working within the local area, and arrange transport based on their interests and need. Alternatively, the Council could arrange the activities and transport on people’s behalf.

We have provided an example to help explain what this idea would mean to people using day services. This example is not based on a real person, it is only provided to help illustrate this idea.

What happens currently for people who use our services

The Council chooses which day services Emma can attend based on her interests and the availability and location of activities and arranges these services for Emma.

What this would look like in the future for people who use our services

Emma would be able to visit a dedicated website or call a dedicated telephone number, for information about all available activities and book onto the ones most convenient or interesting to her. She would also be able to arrange transport to get to the activities.

If Emma wanted to and is eligible, she could still ask the Council to arrange the activities and transport on her behalf.
