As part of the regeneration of Northwich Town Centre, the Council has committed to open a new market in Barons Quay.

The new market will be located within the Barons Quay shopping centre and will replace the existing market currently situated in Weaver Square, which will remain open for business until the new market opens in 2026.

It will benefit from an investment of around £1.8 million to enable the town centre market to remain open and create a place ready for the future where current and future traders can thrive.

Vision for the new market

The vision for the new market is to create a vibrant community market with quality goods and a welcoming place to shop, eat and gather.

We also want to provide a new social space, a focal point in the town for sharing stories and raising awareness of community activities and cultural and heritage information.

Units 12/13 of Barons Quay are currently vacant and occupy a key corner location which will provide an ideal location for the new market.

Plans for the new market

The new market will include bespoke designed fixtures and facilities to provide a significantly improved experience for customers and traders. The interior of the market will include a dining area with seating for up to 100 people and the exterior will include a seating area for al-fresco dining.

Market stalls - The plans include having a number stalls offering a variety of food and beverages as well as other traditional market stalls offering goods and services.

Opening hours - As part of the plans we are also considering the opening times of the new market. Currently the market is only open during the day and we would like to look at the option of extending this into the evening.

Proposed design of the new market

We want to create a market which has a contemporary look and feel which offers traditional market stalls alongside food and beverage stalls and an al fresco space.
