For your child to be registered on the Summer Reading Challenge, we have to collect some information about them. This is so each library can record how many have joined the Challenge and contact you when the Challenge is completed.
What personal data do you need to provide and what is it used for?
Your information is being collected to use for the following purposes:
To sign-up and to take part in the Summer Reading Challenge and Mini Reading Challenge
To contact the winners of Challenge competitions
Your information is being collected by Cheshire West and Chester Council.
In order to allow you to register it is necessary for us to collect basic details about your child including:
First name and last name: This is so we can identify you/your child when you collect your collectors pack at the library and so we have the correct names for the Challenge certificate.
Email address: This is so we can keep you up to date with Challenge news, notify you about events and send reminders about activities that you have booked onto.
Name of library: This is to ensure that each library has sufficient resources for when materials are collected at the branch.
Name of primary school: To provide information about how many children are participating per school to help with targeted promotion next year. It is also for delivery of certificates/medals, if we are unable to carry out medal ceremonies in libraries.
What allows you to use my data?
We only process personal data you provide to allow for the running of this year’s challenge and to assist in better promotion for the next one.
Who we will share your information with?
We will not share your information with anyone else.
