Share your ideas about how our communities can emerge from the pandemic even stronger than before.
We are developing plans to overcome the impacts of COVID-19 and build a stronger future for our communities and we need your involvement. Over the coming months we want to hear your views:
What should the Council take from these months of crisis and response?
What is most important to focus on, as we work with you to plan and build a stronger future?
Lots of people are talking about the new normal – what do you want the new normal to be?
What does the Council, together with local communities, need to do to make this happen?
Responding to COVID-19
In the last few months, COVID-19, and the response to limit its spread, has affected us all. Everyone has stepped up to play a part and make a difference. We’ve stayed at home, worked differently, changed how we keep in touch with family and friends and looked out for our neighbours. Thank you - this is a response to be proud of.
Looking to the future
The Council’s priority during this time has been supporting local communities and businesses, and helping to protect lives and livelihoods. We also need to look to the future. COVID-19 will have long term impacts on health, society and the economy and we need to plan for the challenges of adapting to the new normal.
This means thinking about how to provide services while taking account of social distancing and other guidance. It also means building on the power and positivity within local communities and considering the potential to provide services in new and different ways.
Working with communities
Last autumn we worked with you to develop a new Council Plan - Play Your Part to Thrive. The plan sets out our vision to work with communities to:
Tackle the climate emergency
Grow our local economy and deliver good jobs with fair wages
Support children and young people to make the best start in life
Enable more adults to live longer, healthier and happier lives
Make our neighbourhoods even better places to call home
Be an efficient and empowering Council
Embedded across all these plans is a drive to promote fairness, tackle inequality and address poverty. These plans will now guide how we re-establish services and work with you to build a stronger future for everyone.
How you can help
We need your involvement. We would like to understand what a stronger future means to you. What you tell us will inform our plans for a stronger future, but this is just the start of our conversation. We will continue to engage with you throughout this journey and gather your views on plans as they take shape.
You can get involved now by sharing your thoughts and ideas on any of the topics here.
