Terms and conditions for the “Dream Machine” Competition
The competition is open to participants of the correct age categories who reside within the boundaries of North West England and North Wales except: a) employees of the library service and the museums service of Cheshire West and Chester Council. b) members of the immediate families or households of (a) above
In entering the competition, you confirm that you are eligible to claim the prize.
There is a limit of one entry per person. Entries on behalf of another person will not be accepted and joint submissions are not allowed.
Competition entries can be of any size and be submitted physically or digitally
By entering this competition permission is given for the entry to be used as part of a Borrowbox title provided by the Libraries Service and in social media and other promotional activity to this event.
Apart from (5 above) the copyright of the work remains with the entrant.
All competition entries must be handed in either at (i) a Cheshire West and Chester Library, (ii) submitted by email to libraryevents@cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk before the end of Sunday 4 September (the “Closing Date”) or (iii) Postal entries should be sent to Dream Machine, Grosvenor Museum, 27 Grosvenor Street, Chester, CH1 2DD. All competition entries received after the Closing Date are automatically disqualified.
All images used in entries must be original and be the copyright of the entrant. Entries must be the original work of the entrant.
There will be two age groups for judging: (1) 4 to 7 year olds (2) 8 to 12 year olds
The winner for each group will be the one judged to have best met the criteria by the judging panel.
Judges are looking for entries that show originality, artistic merit and possibility of being made into a physical object.
Details of the membership of the judging panel will be available on request after the winners have been announced.
The winner will be selected as soon as possible after the Closing Date.
An employee of Cheshire West and Chester Council will contact the winners as soon as practicable after the Announcement Date, using the telephone number, address or email address provided with the competition entry.
Cheshire West and Chester Council will make all reasonable efforts to contact the winner. If a chosen winner does not respond to correspondence within one (1) week, Cheshire West and Chester Council reserves the right to offer the prize to the next most eligible entrant that were received before the Closing Date.
The decision of Cheshire West and Chester Council will be final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
The prize is not transferable to another person.
The prize will include a physical interpretation of the winning submissions and other prizes to be confirmed.
No part of the prize is negotiable or transferable.
The prizes will be presented at either the Grosvenor Museum or the library of the winner’s choice. If the winner cannot attend, an alternative method of delivery will be arranged. If collection is not possible, please allow 30 days for delivery of the prize.
The competition is run jointly Cheshire West and Chester Libraries and Museums Services.
Cheshire West and Chester Council reserves the right to amend the competition end date at any time.
The participating council services are Cheshire West and Chester Council Library and Museums Services only.
Cheshire West and Chester Council will not accept: (a) responsibility for competition entries that are lost, mislaid, damaged or delayed in transit, regardless of cause, including, for example, as a result of any postal failure, equipment failure, technical malfunction, systems, satellite, network, server, computer hardware or software failure of any kind; or (b) proof of posting or transmission as proof of receipt of entry to the competition.
We regret that entries cannot be returned.
Cheshire West and Chester Council must either publish or make available information that indicates that a valid award took place. To comply with this obligation Cheshire West and Chester Council will publish the surname and county of the prize winner and, if applicable, their winning entries online using the social media channels of the Libraries and Museum services.
If you object to any or all of your surname, county and winning entry being published or made available, please contact Cheshire West and Chester Libraries via libraryevents@cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk. In such circumstances, Cheshire West and Chester Libraries must still provide the information and winning entry to the Advertising Standards Authority on request.
Cheshire West and Chester Council will only process your personal information as set out in the Privacy Policy which can be found here: https://www.cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk/system-pages/privacy-policy.aspx.
If there is any reason to believe that there has been a breach of these terms and conditions, Cheshire West and Chester Council may, at its sole discretion, reserve the right to exclude you from participating in the competition.
Cheshire West and Chester Council reserves the right to hold void, suspend, cancel, or amend the prize competition where it becomes necessary to do so.
