Inequalities among communities are related to inequalities in health. Empowering and sustaining communities can help maximise individual and community potential to shape the physical and mental health and wellbeing of its residents.
The priorities below, together with the Housing Strategy, are suggested as a focus to ensure that all residents achieve a healthy standard of living:
a) Creating integrated neighbourhood systems and a community-led approach for the local delivery of health and care services
b) Supporting the provision of home adaptations and improved housing conditions via Disability Facility Grants, Safe & Warm Grants and Decent Home Loans
c) Ensuring equitable access to health and care services within the community and hospitals
d) Supporting our Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise (VCFSE) sector to develop healthy and sustainable places and communities
e) Providing safe and accessible green spaces
f) Delivering library and culture services to support social connectivity and provide access to warm spaces and services via Let’s Talk
