Winsford Town Centre Regeneration Plan

This image is an illustration of the first phase of the proposed regeneration plans for Winsford Town Centre.

The boundary of the regeneration area extends from the edge of the A54 to the North, around the existing library and Dingle Centre and also includes Queens Parade and Fountain Court. The existing market site and ASDA form the southern part of the boundary and the Aldi development, which is currently under construction on Dene Drive, forms the western boundary.

The regeneration proposals illustrated on the regeneration plan include:

  • A new retail unit proposed to be a café with drive through to the north of the regeneration area, on land adjacent to the existing health centre and fronting onto the A54.
  • A large new retail unit where Queens Parade is currently situated to the east.
  • Winsford Social Hub – a flexible, multi-use community and retail space, potentially located on the current Fountain Court site, which could be used for a range of activities including a café, meeting rooms, flexible low cost office space, community learning classes, youth activities, arts, crafts and musical performances and rooms for community groups. There may also be an opportunity to relocate the market and library here.
  • Significant enhancements to public spaces across the whole regeneration area, including an upgraded town square and new cycle storage in front of the current Fountain Court location, as well as a new library plaza. These areas can be used as for a range of events and activities to take place throughout the year.
  • Improvements to make travelling into and around the town centre easy and safe, including pedestrian road crossings, a public transport hub on Dene Drive, and painting and lighting upgrades to the existing underpass on the A54, close to the library.
