Take part in our Summer Reading Challenge

The Summer Reading Challenge isn't just for children! Celebrate your love of books and reading this summer and join our adult reading challenge. You can take part in the Adults Read Two Competition by telling us about two books you have read this summer, and be in with a chance to win a £50 book voucher through our prize draw. Just select the competition tab below to enter.

You can also take part in our #30DayBookChallenge from 13 July. This is just for fun but can be used for ideas for your reading over the Summer. We’d love to know the first book you ever read, what book makes you instantly happy or a book by your favourite author. Whether it be a gripping thriller or cosy romance, reading a book for just six minutes can help improve an individual's mental health.     We have lots of fun events for you over the Summer, the details of which can be found below. All of them will be online and free. You can book some now but some will only be bookable two weeks before the date of the event, the details for how to book are provided below.

    Keep an eye out on this website and on our social media for when they become available. We will also be adding further events and doing more on social media, so the following isn’t everything.

    A fun, creative dance class for children aged 4-7 years with Cheshire Dance. Come along to have a ‘Silly Squad’ boogie! No previous dance experience is necessary and this session is suitable for all children aged 4-7 years regardless of ability or disability.

    Dance, drama games and dressing up as the Silly Squad join our Superhero School, learn how to fight crime and foil the dastardly master criminals, Pony & Pidgeon.

    Join storyteller John Kirk for a very special online retelling of Roald Dahl's "The Twits". Mr and Mrs Twit are disgusting people who enjoy playing horrid tricks on each other but when the Roly Poly Bird visits their garden their whole world is turned upside down! This presentation is made with kind permission from The Roald Dahl Story Company, Casarotto Ramsay and Netflix. Suitable for children aged 4 and above.

    Dance, drama games and dressing up as the Silly Squad take to the Seven Seas in search of treasure. Join the Noodle crew and their Pirate Captain as we set sail, learn to be a pirate and make sure you don't end up walking the plank!

    As always, ZooLab has a madcap tale in store to inspire the next generation of readers and storytellers. This is no ordinary story! This story is about comedy, fun, laughter and wobbly jelly bellies. Join ZooLab’s talented animal crew as they ascend upon a fun-house comedy night. Will our talented bunch of animals get a comedy night filled with laughter or will the joke be on them? Our Crazy Crew of amazing ZooLab animals will be sure to ignite the imagination of children up and down the country.
