The Choices in Challenging times consultation has now closed.

Thank you to everyone who took part, your feedback will help the Council set a balanced budget, in line with the things that are important to you.

The consultation findings and feedback on the key messages are available here.

The findings were discussed by the Council’s Overview and Scrutiny Committee, Cabinet and Full Council in January and February 2023, to help inform Councillor’s decisions when they set the budget.

Information about these meetings is available on the Council's website:

If it was up to you, how would you spend Cheshire West and Chester Council’s budget?

You only have a certain amount of money, and some vital areas need more investment. What things would you reduce or stop to pay for critical services? What level of council tax do you think is needed?

How you balance your budget will help us understand what is important to you when we have to make future decisions about savings and where the budget is spent.

Your target in the simulator is to save £48.4 million over 2 years. This is based on the Council’s current budget, before taking account of any savings and changes in income we are proposing. This is to give you more opportunities to choose where savings and income could come from.

Help shape the way forward

  • Take part in our budget simulator challenge below to share your ideas on how we balance the budget in the future.

This simulator will be open until 11pm on 5 December 2022.
