Green Expo 2025 Photo Competition Launched - Bringing Sustainability into Focus

Green Expo 2025 has launched its annual photography competition, inviting all ages and abilities to participate in celebrating environmental activities - through the lens. Entries for 2025 will be accepted until 31 May and are free. Winners of the photo competition will have their pictures on prominent display at Chester Cathedral from the first week of June and be awarded a £100 cash prize.

The competition has three categories: Progress to Net Zero, Climate Change and The Natural World’s Resilience.

Jane Harrad-Roberts, Project Director of Green Expo UK said; “Photography has the power to inspire, educate, and motivate action, and we look forward to seeing how participants capture the essence of sustainability in the North West and North Wales.”

Entries are open to those under 18, adults 18+, and professional photographers. Jane added; “We are looking forward to seeing how businesses, individuals, nature, science and innovation are contributing towards building a more promising future and inspiring others to follow suit. We have already received entries from November with a record number last year. The process is quick and easy to encourage as many as possible from across the region.”

Previous sponsors have included Apple MCC Digital, Cheshire Energy Hub, Chester Business Improvement District, Chester Cathedral, Chester Zoo, Essar Energy Transition and Nikon UK. One more sponsor is still being sought.

Background

Green Expo 2025 inspires attendees to focus on what North West England and North Wales’ carbon neutral future look like. Local, national, and international organisations showcase how they are achieving their plans as they move towards net zero.

Members of the public, schools, students, businesspeople, inward investors and organisations interested in climate change, carbon reduction and Net Zero are encouraged to get involved with and attend Chester Green Weekend in June and the Youth Conference and awards dinner in November.

CHASE, Cheshire Heritage and Sustainability Enterprises Community Interest Company, the organisation behind the event, is a not-for-profit community interest company, the directors take no remuneration for their activities.

Any surplus from Green Expo will go into restoring and creating the Hydro Hub by the Old Dee Bridge into Handbridge, Chester and into building a stronger Green Expo for future years.

This will again be a great event showcasing and explaining the significant number of green initiatives and investments in and around the region.
