Free creative workshop - collecting women's stories through zines

Crafting and creative activities can be expensive. If you’d like to try something creative and be part of a special project collecting women’s stories, come along to a free zine-making workshop.
At the workshop, you’ll have the opportunity to handmake a zine (a self-published book) where your thoughts, drawings, stitches, photos and notes can come together, with help from workshop facilitators.
The workshops are for adults, but you don’t need to be an artist to join in.
The workshops will be held at Crosshatch Art Workshops and Makerspace in Winsford Cross Shopping Centre. You need to attend both events to make your zine, on:
- Monday, 20 April, 1-3pm
- Monday, 27 April, 1-3pm

Background information
Cheshire Archives collect, care for and share the stories of Cheshire’s people and places, providing a trusted history of the past 900 years. Our archive collection is of vital cultural and historical value to help us better understand our past and inform our future.
As part of the development of two new archive centres in Chester and Crewe we are running a Creative Engagement Programme to uncover and celebrate historically underrepresented women’s stories. The 20,000 Women Zine Project aims to collect and preserve stories of women and girls living in Cheshire today (2026).
