Neston Community & Youth Centre – providing services for local people
Neston Community & Youth Centre (NCYC) is a Neston based charity that delivers and supports services for local people. We operate Neston Community Centre and Neston Civic Hall.
Our mission: Everyone in our community is able to live healthy, fulfilled and connected lives.
We deliver the following services
- Hospital Discharge Support: for CH64 postcode residents aged over 55 in a Wirral Hospital. Providing low level support to help you return home smoothly.
- Social Prescribing: for any patients of the Neston and Willaston Primary Care Network (this includes Neston Surgery, Neston Medical Centre and Willaston Surgery). Support to help you have more control over your wellbeing and find ways to manage your needs in a way that suits you.
- Neston Angels: befriending and activities for older people. Weekly home visits / phone calls from a befriender, and shopping support. Activities include a monthly senior matinee, senior social, day trips, full circle intergenerational group, art club and Silvermail penpal scheme. Activities are open to anyone. Befriending is available for anyone within the CH64 postcode area.
- Neston Flicks: community cinema - monthly screening of popular films at Neston Civic Hall. 20% discount on tickets for members.
- Well Fed: healthy, fresh and affordable meals and recipe boxes. Neston Civic Hall is an order and collection point. Available Wednesdays 11am-1pm.
- Warm Welcome Space: our community centre on Burton Road is a warm welcome space. It can be accessed 9-4pm Mon- Fri with hot drinks, soup and biscuits available. Regular drop-ins can be accessed including employment support, refugee and asylum support and Citizens Advice.
- Community gardens: our gardens are accessible 24/7 and provide a lovely pit stop for those walking along the Wirral Way. Fruit is available for you to help yourself to.
- Young Voices: a newly established group of young people looking to make a difference to where they live. Open to anyone aged 10-16 living in postcode area CH64.
- Bereavement Friendship Group: weekly, peer support group for anyone who has lost their partner.
Events – NCYC supports many local events including CH64 Community Volunteer awards, The Big Lunch, Christmas light switch on and the lantern parade.
The community centre is also a Citizens Advice access point with bookable appointments on a Thursday. We host a foodbank on Thursday 10am-12pm, Let’s Play on Tuesday (term time) 9.30am-11am, Jobcentre Plus and other activities including language lessons, breastfeeding support, yoga, choir and much more!
We also have space to hire across our two venues, from 1 to 1 meetings and conferences to large scale events, our spaces can accommodate whatever you need.
