How can we make our neighbourhoods even better places to call home?

- Give back residential streets back to residents by limiting car traffic (reducing air pollution and noise) - Encouraging better use of public space for children to play and neighbors to socialize

We need better local control of decision making about what affects us. The borough is made up of disparate areas with little in common.

Clean up the pavements and verges

I live in winnington, I am quite appalled at the state of the verges and borders along the roads, winnington lane by the old ICI works especially. The entrance to Furey woods looks awful. I run a small gardening business and am positive about wild flowers but the huge overgrown buddleias along the railings over the bridge by the new housing estate is not exactly making the winnington area look appealing. I would be more than willing to take on a role making it look nice. Planters like those used in northwich town centre would be amazing, we could get local businesses to sponsor them, possibly weaver vale garden centre to supply some plants. Please think about tidying the area up to make Winnington a nicer place to live.

cars parking on pavements can force people onto the road

On the road where I live very few people have a drive, and so people park their cars half on the pavement, half on the road. I have two kids and so regularly have had to walk down the road, 'pulling in' between parked cars to let drivers pass me because my double buggy couldn't squeeze down the pavement between fences/parked cars. I've had the same issues with a friend whose daughter is a wheelchair user. I've also seen my four year old stood calmly on the pavement waiting to cross whilst someone in a large 4x4 reverse parked on the pavement, heading straight for her. I had to run up the road shouting and waving before the driver stopped to see what the problem was. She couldn't see my daughter at all as her head was well below the height of the 4x4s rear window. I had foolishly taught my daughter that she was safe if she stayed on the pavement.

I for one do not feel safe being in Chester, alone, in the evening. So I find I wont go and see a show at storyhouse by myself or go for a meal. Which can make a person feel isolated and alone.
