Climate change poses a massive threat to our way of life and we need to act. While government and international bodies take the lead, we can make a big difference locally. Our ambition is for Cheshire West and Chester to become carbon neutral by 2045 or earlier.

To inspire ideas we have listed a number of things we think we could do to make a difference, along with some suggestions for how residents could play their part. We have also outlined how we could pay for this over the next four years.

Add more electrical charging points across the borough which will encourge people to buy an electric car

Insist on the developers making the proposed Cheshire FA development at Knights Grange comply with very high environmental standards
This is a massive facility that has the potential to attract a lot of visitors, provide jobs, and be a great facility to raise the profile of Winsford. I hope that the council will ensure that the developers are expected to aspire to very high environmental standards. For example: Photo-voltaic cells on the roof to provide power, high standards of insulation etc. A good number of car charging points for EVs for service users, public and staff Planning that puts pedestrians and cyclists first, cars last A cycle route to connect with Winsford station Very many trees in the landscaping (hundreds, if not thousands) Plenty of space for dog walking routes and runners etc

Transport is key - put solar panels on buses, invest in green buses, free public transport for students.

Identify council land in urban areas to plant native trees/Re-wild. Employ a tree officer to identify areas/replant. So much space for this.

We want to build a new relationship with residents and partners, where we work together to make a difference. We will do our bit, but we want to encourage everyone to play their part. People need to spend in more environmentally friendly ways - buy local, less packaging, less chemicals - malpas bee green shop is great

With electric cars becoming a viable option, I would like to see more charging points in the CW & C area to encourage people to change.
