Help us develop the new Borough Plan
We are developing our Borough Plan for 2024-2028. This plan sets out our shared vision and priorities for west Cheshire. Everything we do will be guided by this plan and it helps us focus our response to the challenges and opportunities facing the borough. It is really important that the plan reflects the views and aspirations of local people and a range of local organisations across our communities.
We are asking five questions to understand your views and ideas:
- What do you like most about life in your community?
- What would improve life in your community?
- What do you think local public services could do to help improve life in west Cheshire?
- What do you think local people could do to help improve life in west Cheshire?
- What one thing would make west Cheshire a better place to live, in ten years’ time?
What happens next
Thank you to everyone who has taken part, everything you've told us so far has been used to develop the draft plan. We’ll be sharing our draft plan with you in November for further comments. We will also link this consultation to our budget planning so we can have a joined-up conversation about priorities and resources.
Share your views
There are lots of ways you can get involved, just click on one of the tabs below. If you would prefer to tell us your ideas privately, please complete our short survey. If you are part of an interested group or community, there’s also an engagement toolkit to help you run a discussion group and feedback your thoughts.

Rosie lee11 months agoMore infrastructure to cope with increased housing developments. Safeguard our greenbelt, don't buld on it all. Resurface side roads.

is it possible to have some new housing estates built without roads just footpaths and gardens? the houses wouldn't have garages or drives for cars so saving land space. if absolutely necessary a separate parking area could be supplied with charging points

Create a mountain bike skills area using the contours of the land to provide downhill features. This could be tied in to my previous idea of walk ways/cycle routes around the flashes. I understand that this is currently private land but it was earmarked in the neighbourhood plan for houses, so part could be used for a leisure activity that would attract people to the town and to hopefully spend money in the local community. Especially if some sort of food outlet was provided at the Marina car park area.
0 comment0MarkR10 months agoImprove the traffic flow through Hartford
The local roads are horrendous, especially at peak times. Bradburns Lane / School Lane are a major 'rat run' for people wanting or needing to use the village as a short-cut. Some ideas: - Restrict HGVs by adding a weight limit on School Lane / Bradburns Lane. The regular hourly flow of "Abbey Green" lorries going back and to into the TATA works in Winnington should have their tankers switched back to rail use as there is a perfectly good, redundant branch line directly into the TATA works from near Greenbank station. - Introduce traffic-calming measures and pedestrian crossings on School Lane to reduce speeds. There is only one pelican crossing at the far north end. - Introduce two-way flow at the top of School Lane to Chester Road. - DO NOT take up the suggestion of local politicians to allow right turns onto A556 from the top of School Lane as this will make the rat-run even more attractive! - Encourage more effective use of the Northwich bypass with improved signage. Traffic should use the newer and better-designed A49 to the west and A533 to the east, to bypass Hartford.

0 comment0OddJob11 months agoTake the maintenance of Country Roads seriously.
The country roads are repaired by a well meaning band of contract workmen with a bucket of Tarmac and a 'Wacker Plate' to bash it in the holes. THIS IS NOT A LONG TERM SOLUTION. If the council were to return to the site of a repair a few weeks later, they would find that all the repair tarmac has been gouged out of the hole by the large wheeled vehicles that use the road. Repair roads surfaces so that they are safe to drive on.

0 comment0Cestrian voice11 months agoNhs mental health
Upton lea is currently running on 2 psychiatrists for the whole area they have no psychologists The specialist nurses are 4 when they used to be 14. Surly this situation is critical. Doctors have not really got back to how surgeries ran pre covid. The wait for a simple blood test is 2 to 3 weeks The retention of staff is terrible always new receptionists The office managers leaving after years of service. Whilst doctors surgeries score high on council audits something is wrong

0 comment0James11 months agoJoin in and get involved
Get involved. If your kids are in a football team, help out at the club. If you think it's sad how many shops are empty, buy things from the ones that are still open. If someone has thrown litter on the floor by the bin, why not tut but then pick it up yourself. If you're bothered by a specific issue, volunteer.

0 comment0OddJob11 months agoEnsure basic facilities are provided to the whole CWCC area, not just the towns!!
The village I live in is by no means 'isolated', yet we have No Gas, No mains drains and No bus service. If Oil heating boilers are to be phased out, what have CWCC done to ensure I will be able to heat my house? Air source heat pumps are not a viable option in a traditional Cheshire brick country house.
