The Local Plan Conversation engagement exercise has now closed

Thank you to everyone who took part. A copy of the feedback report, comments on existing Local Plan policies and suggestions of sites and locations for new development and land that is important to protect, are available here. There were a number of comments that did not relate to the Local Plan but to issues dealt with by other Council departments. Where possible all these other comments have been passed to the relevant services.

The findings of this engagement were discussed by the Council’s Cabinet on 20 April 2022. Information about the meeting is available here.

Your feedback supported this discussion at Cabinet, where it was agreed that the Council commits to an update of the Local Plan (Part One) and commences initial work, including evidence gathering in advance of this, and establishes a cross-party Member Working Group. A report setting out the scope and timetable will be approved at a future Cabinet meeting.

What could the Local Plan do to enhance health and well-being?

We know that well designed places improve the quality of life. Outdoor space is central to our health and well-being, and the Covid pandemic has highlighted the importance of access to green spaces and changed how we value these areas close to where we live. Low levels of pollution and noise are also important.

Being part of a community with easy access to jobs, schools, shops and services, and social interaction is also essential for maintaining health, well-being and social inclusion.

We want to know what you think we should focus on, and what the Local Plan could do to meet the key challenges of enhancing health and well-being in the future.
