Share your salute and say thank you during Armed Forces Week 2020

In previous years public events have been held to mark Armed Forces Week, which starts on Monday, 22 June, and includes Reserves Day on Wednesday, 24 June, and Armed Forces Day on Saturday, 27 June. This year, to reduce the spread of COVID-19, celebrations are moving online instead.

You can say thank you to our Armed Forces community past and present here. Share photos or videos of yourself, friends, family or colleagues saluting to pay tribute to those working to keep us safe.

    Neston Mayor and Deputy Mayor mark Armed Forces day

    The Mayor of Neston, Cllr. Christine Warner and the Deputy Mayor, Cllr. Stephen Wastell, marked Armed Forces day by visiting the cenotaph in the grounds of the parish church and taking a few minutes to think about our armed forces. Cllr. Warner said

    ' it is right that we honour our armed forces for all that they have done for us in the past and continue to do for us today.'

    Fighting COVID-19 - My personal experience as a mobilised Army Reservist

    Today, Wednesday 24 June, is Reserves Day and Army Reservist Neil Bowdler, also the Council's Principle Compliance and Development Officer for StreetCare, had the honour of raising the Armed Forces Day flag.

    Why marking Armed Forces Week is important to us

    In this video Cllr Louise Gittins, Leader of Cheshire West and Chester Council, Andrew Lewis, Chief Executive of the Council, Cllr Brian Jones, Armed Forces Champion, and Cllr Mark Williams, the Lord Mayor of Chester, explain why marking Armed Forces Week is important to them and to our borough.

    The video also features salutes from HMS Albion, the Queens Own Yeomanry, RAF Cadet Force, Royal Logistics Corps and 75 Engineer Regiment, as well as talented Honey Holmes, CCF Cadet, playing the General Salute on bugle.
