April 2022 - The Winsford Town Centre conversation has now closed

Thank you to everyone who continued the conversation with us about transforming Winsford Town Centre. The survey feedback you have given is really important. Findings from both consultation stages can be found here:

A planning application for Phase 1 of the redevelopment was approved by the Council's Planning Committee on 5 April. You can view the planning application on our online portal here (application number 21/05058/FUL) and view a recording of the Planning Committee meeting here (please use Google Chrome where possible).

April 2023 – Winsford Town Centre Update

Following increases in construction materials and labour costs and reduced demand for food and beverage units, the Council has had to re-evaluate the feasibility and sustainability of the original plans for Winsford Town Centre. To find out more please click here.

We want to hear from you how Cheshire West and Chester Council can transform Winsford Town Centre. By 2024, it will look very different. Now is the time to play your part in shaping our plans.

We bought back the shopping centre in 2018, because we wanted to improve the town centre. We have made some changes since, but we now have the funds to really transform it.

Your consultation responses in 2019 helped us attract £9.98 million from the Government’s Future High Streets Fund. Supported by £11 million of Council funding, we can now afford to begin a process of revitalising Winsford for future generations.

The work starts now. In the Autumn, we will be submitting a planning application for the town centre, with construction due to start in Spring 2022. We would like to understand your views on our vision, so we can make sure these plans match your needs.

We want to hear the views of all residents and businesses.

The first phase of the Winsford Town Centre conversation has now closed. Thank you to everyone who took part. There have been many comments and suggestions, which we are currently analysing. A report of the consultation findings will be published on this page in late August. The feedback you have given is really important and will be used to finalise the plans for the town centre ahead of a formal planning application later this year.

An exhibition sharing regeneration plans will be available to view in the town centre Cine Window, from 21 May to 18 July 2021.

Please note that the Cine Window has temporarily moved to a new location in the former 'BrightHouse' shop unit - Winsford Cross Shopping Centre, 20 Fountain Court, Winsford, CW7 1AJ.

Please come along and see the plans for your new look town centre and have your say.

If you haven't visited the Cine Window before, this is an exhibition space, showing community art projects. It features five large windows, a dedicated film screen and exhibition spaces for installations, sculptures and paintings. Since 2019 it has showcased a diverse range of locally-produced art for residents to enjoy and forms part of a wider arts and cultural strategy for the area.

We are also asking people to celebrate Winsford, by submitting photographs of things that they admire within the town through our online Ideas Board here. A selection of these images will also be displayed in the Cine Window over the summer to showcase the town.
